This painting illustrates the difficulty of raising cattle in canyon country. The cowboy sees the cow and calf but it may take three hours to get to them. Ranching in the Palo Duro is nothing like ranching on the flat prairie around it. I know from experience. A very large giclee of this painting hangs over the fireplace at the Mack Dick Pavilion in Palo Duro Canyon State Park.
